In Loving Memory

Evelyn Bloom

3 February 1950 – 2 May 2007

Sprinkles of Rainbow Dust and Fairy Wings
Camellia buds, Gardenias, and Maple leaves
The butterfly in Nannyland dances with glee
No pain and no fear – for she is set free.

Oh how we miss you each day that passes
Your gentle touch, a word, the infectious laughter
Will the ache in our hearts ever subside?
We will carry it with us till the day we die.

Ev you left us far too soon
Still much to happen and things to do
We hear your voice keep us in line
Show us a symbol, show us a sign

The tears swoop upon us unexpectedly
As we consider our love for you immeasurably.
Come visit us in our thoughts and dreams
Live through our lives and never leave.

- By Roslyn Wingens
Younger sister to Evelyn Bloom

When you love and loose in life, little chips of your heart break off and although they can never grow back, sometimes they can be mended by replacing the loneliness or the sadness. But when you loose your mother nothing can ever prepare you for the physical pain that encumbers you and nothing can ever prepare you for the piece of your heart that will break off and can never be replaced. Time may dull the pain, but time can never replace your mum.
Evelyn Bloom was the talented Fabric Designer and Developer, Creative Director, and initial driving force and co founder behind the Bloom fine fabric concept. Credited with the resurgence of guipure lace in the 1990s, Evelyn’s vibrant interest in fashion, design and textiles fuelled the ever-evolving range of fabrics throughout the life of the company. Her visionary foresight kept Bloom Fabrics at the cutting edge of couture fabric supply in Australia for more than 22 years.

Diagnosed with Breast Cancer in January 2005, she was given a clean bill of health six months later, only to find that in November 2006, the horrible disease had unfortunately returned. Evelyn devastatingly lost her short but courageous fight six months later on 2nd May 2007.
New and established designers in the industry respected her design talents, style and opinion, and in fact, she made an impact with agents, suppliers and customers around the world.
Those who were lucky enough to have met Evelyn will know that beautiful things were always her passion. Her main aim in life was to please others and of course, to buy beautiful fabrics! “The combination of Evelyn’s talent; kind, gentle and loving nature; and selfless love to everyone in her life will be sorely missed…”
This beautiful lady touched so many, so tenderly.
